(I am selecting a cat breed, and I want a cat that gets really attached to me, and loves to sleep in my bed, and stuff like that. I know some breeds are independent, so I want what breed gets the most attached to their humans.)

Of course every cat is an individual and there are cats of many different breeds as well as cats of NO breed (= the vast majority of cats) who can get very attached to people. in fact i've never seen ANY cat (or dog either, for that matter) be more attached to a human than my father's former feral moggy is to him. And also there are always exceptions to generalizations about breeds personalities. AND it's not just genetic, it depends on how they have been treated.

But with those caveats, I do not agree with those who say that breed has to do with personality. And among the breeds, Siamese are probably the breed most known (by those who actually do know genuine Siamese ) for being attached to their humans. Look in just about any book or website that describes the cat breeds and one of the characteristics you will see mentioned about Siamese is their need for human interaction and their attachment to people. They are intelligent, communicative (most are very chatty so not the breed to choose if you want a quiet cat!), and they can be very persistent in demanding attention. They're also among the most energetic and active of cat breeds especially when young; they are like extreme sports athletes and they can pretty much jump or climb to ANYwhere

The Siamese i have had have been very affectionate and want to be with you, hanging out and curious about what you're doing. They love snuggling in the bed with their people, they purr you to sleep.

The other breeds that are closest related to the Siamese and came from them also tend to be like that -like Oriental Shorthair, Oriental Longhair, Balinese or the cats called Colorpoint Shorthair or Javanese in CFA And some other breeds originating in Thailand / Southeast Asia also seem to have this very people-loving temperament. such as Burmese or Tonkinese or Korat.

If you wanted to get a Siamese you should either go to a breed rescue group or a reputable breeder.
Main Siamese Rescue site http://www.siameserescue.org/ They have Siamese mixes, look-alikes and some who are probably full Siamese .Make sure to tell them very definitely what you want in personality. (Some people just want a cat with that colouring)

If you want a pedigreed Siamese cat from a breeder you might consider a retired young adult breeding or show cat.. Since they are adults, their personality is more established and their breeder can tell you a lot about them. Same is true with rescue cats in foster homes.

If you want a pedigreed kitten and you like the modern Siamese type, look at the modern ones on the FBRL site http://www.breedlist.com/siamese-breeder…

If you want a pedigreed kitten and you like the more moderate, Old Style Siamese type, check out these: http://home.comcast.net/~bevjoe3/preossi…
